Police Investigating Early Morning Weekend Shooting in Essex


Baltimore County Police reported that officers responded to a shooting in Essex over the weekend. The took place in the 400-block of Eastern Boulevard on Sunday around 1:40 a.m.

Officers arrived and located evidence of a shooting on the parking lot of the business. Two victims were later located at area hospitals. Both victims did suffer at least one gunshot wound.

One male victim is listed in serious condition. The second male victim has been released from the hospital, after receiving treatment.

Police Investigating Homicide in Middle River


At 11:40 a.m. on November 17, 2019 Baltimore County Police were called to the 300-block of Farwind Drive in Middle River for a shooting victim.

Officers arrived and located the victim on the parking lot, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The male victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Two Juveniles Robbed at Perry Hall Basketball Courts


There was a report of a robbery at the Perry Hall High School basketball courts on Tuesday afternoon around 3:45. According to Baltimore County Police, two juvenile victims were approached by two unknown suspects while playing basketball at Perry Hall High School.

One of the suspects pushed one of the victims and took his cell phone. Implying a gun, the other suspect demanded the other victim’s watch. Both suspects then fled on foot.

Councilman David Marks release a social media statement about the attack.

“I try very hard to be careful in what I post, but this angers and scares me. It is time to stop citing statistics that gloss over the very real and perceived increase in crime – and it’s time to budget for more police officers. Enough is enough,” Marks said in a statement.

Marks later explained that he had spoken with Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski Jr. about the need for more police.

Part of the challenge, as [Olszewski] reminded me, is recruiting to fill the 40 funded vacancies already in the budget. The Executive included in the current budget pay raises that should help,” Marks added

Man, 67, Dies in Middle River House Fire


A 67-year-old man died on Tuesday afternoon of injuries sustained in a house fire in Middle River.

The victim is Forest Richard Brady of the unit block of Contact Ct. in Middle River He lived in the home where the fire occurred.

BCoFD units were dispatched at 12:16 p.m. to the Contact Court address for a dwelling fire with rescue. First- arriving crews found heavy fire and smoke showing from a single-story home.

During a search of the home, firefighters located the victim in the living room — the room BCoPD fire investigators have identified as the place where the fire started. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters removed the victim from the home and transferred him to EMS providers. EMS personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The fire was called under control at 12:56 p.m. Firefighters did not find working smoke alarms in the home.

The cause remains under investigation.

County Police Department Mourns Sudden Death of Police K9 Axe


It is with a heavy heart that the Baltimore County Police Department announces the passing of an active duty member of our department and K9 Unit, K9 Axe #3256. Axe passed away last night from a sudden illness.

Axe has been a member of the department and a family member of his handler since April of 2014. He specialized in explosives and firearm detection and in July passed his National Odor Recognition Testing (NORT). Axe will be missed by his family and coworkers alike, remembered as an asset to our department, a cuddle buddy to his family, and an avid dock diver. We thank you for your service, Axe.

Suspects Burglarize Fiesta Mexicana, Attempt Burglary at Pastore’s in Rosedale


Do you recognize any of these three young suspects or this red minivan? Baltimore County Police detectives hope to hear from you if you do.

These suspects burglarized Fiesta Mexicana and attempted to burglarize Pastore’s restaurants in the 8400 block of Philadelphia Road in Rosedale in the early morning hours on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Detectives have recovered surveillance video (watch here) that depicts the three suspects driving around the property just before 6 a.m., then stopping in front of Pastore’s. One suspect shattered the entry door to Fiesta Mexicana and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the restaurant, then unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to Pastore’s. He did, however, do damage to the front door in his attempt.

Off-Duty Officer Arrests Bank Robber in Perry Hall


An off-duty Baltimore County Police officer caught a bank robber in the act on Monday, only to later discover he was wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Baltimore, Maryland Field Office for numerous bank robberies across the region.

Officer E. Legge of the Woodlawn Precinct 2 was inside Bank of America in the 7900 block of Honeygo Boulevard in Perry Hall on Monday, Oct. 28 when a man walked up to the teller station next to him and placed a backpack on the counter. Moments later the man left the bank with the backpack and the teller announced she’d just been robbed.

Legge chased after the suspect across the parking lot where he was able to apprehend the man and call for a uniformed officer response. The first responding officer, Officer R. Cross of the White Marsh Precinct 9 immediately recognized the suspect from an FBI wanted suspect release as Fletcher Myea Dorsett (51) with no fixed address.

Dorsett was arrested and is currently held in the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on no bail status.

Bicyclist Struck & Killed on Campbell Boulevard


A bicyclist injured in a crash with a motor vehicle on Sunday evening has died.

Andre Brown (28) of no fixed address attempted to cross Campbell Boulevard near I-95 around 7:15 p.m. when he was struck by a Ford Focus. He suffered life-threatening wounds and was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where he died early this morning.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is continuing their investigation into the circumstances of this fatal crash.

Crews Clear Fuel Truck Trapped in Middle River Ditch


The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company reported crews were on scene when a heating oil truck landed in a ditch on Bird River Road in Middle River. The truck was reported leaning against a tree with person that was trapped this morning around 9 a.m.

The WMVFC reported that person was rescued.

HazMat and Maryland Department Of The Environment were also on the scene this morning. The fuel truck was carrying approximately 2500 gallons of heating fuel, but no leaks were reported.

Driver Dies in Crash on Kenwood Avenue on Tuesday


The driver of a Jeep Cherokee involved in a single-vehicle crash on Kenwood Avenue on Tuesday morning has died.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Jeep was traveling westbound on Kenwood Avenue approaching the intersection at Lillian Holt Drive around 7:30 a.m.

For unknown reasons, the Jeep failed to stop at the red traffic signal and continued through the intersection until it struck a light support pole and came to a stop.

The driver, identified as Norris Carl Assam (77) of the 1800 block of Hanford Road, 21237, was transported to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing their investigation into the factors contributing to this fatal crash.
