Honeygo Park Event to Honor Officer Amy Caprio


A family fun public safety day will be held to honor fallen Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio. She was killed in the line of duty on May 21, 2018 when a vehicle driven by a juvenile burglary suspect intentionally struck her during a pursuit in Perry Hall.

The event will take place at Honeygo Run Park on Saturday, Oct. 5 from noon to 3 p.m. and it will start with a ceremony at Honeygo’s dog park (Perry Paw) where a plaque will be dedicated in honor of Amy Caprio.

After the ceremony, there will be events held by Baltimore County Police that include fingerprinting for kids, and displays from Baltimore County Police’s tactical team, K9 unit, aviation, marine unit, motorcyclist and honor guard.

Members of the Harford County Humane Society will also be present at this family event.

Brush Fire Reported on Beltway Near Chesaco Avenue


Maryland Department of Transportation [MDOT] reports that there is a fire on the Beltway near the Chesaco underpass southbound before the Back River Bridge. The fire started around 3:32 p.m. today.

According to MDOT, the fire is on the right shoulder and the right lane is closed on the Inner Loop of I-695. Both lanes on the Outer Loop are still open.

Suspect Vehicle May Help Identify Burglars in Middle River


Do you recognize this car? If you do, you just might be able to help identify three burglary suspects that made off with electronics stolen from the business center at The Berkleigh in Greenleigh at Crossroads in Middle River.

The female suspect (scroll to bottom for suspect images) was dropped off at the apartment complex in the 6200 block of Greenleigh Avenue, 21220 around 7:10 p.m. on Monday, September 16. She was let into the secured business center by another tenant, and a short time later she let in the dark skinned male suspect. The suspects took two computers, concealed them in the yellow topped container he is seen carrying in the center photo below taken from surveillance video, and exited the building. They were picked up by the driver in what appears may be a gold Buick with a large dent in the trunk of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle is the light skinned male suspect (right side), also caught on surveillance video outside of the building while he waited for the other two to return.

Police Looking to Identify Two Suspects who Robbed Family Dollar


Two suspects robbed the Family Dollar store in Rosedale, pointing a gun at the cashier and demanding money. Can you help police identify them?

It was just before 3 p.m. when the two men walked into Family Dollar at 8414 Philadelphia Road in Rosedale. They approached the counter, pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded she open the register. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot west on Philadelphia Road.

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Robbery Unit are continuing the investigation into this incident and are asking the public for help identifying these two suspects. Melissa Lynn West Identified as Victim in Dundalk Fatal Shooting


Baltimore County Police responded to a shooting in the 500-block of Fairview Avenue in Dundalk on Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Police arrived and found the victim outside of the location.The 30-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

The woman shot and killed is identified as Melissa Lynn West (30) of the 500 block of Fairview Avenue, 21224.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and ask anyone who may have heard or seen anything to contact police at 410-307-2020.

Man Arrested in Dundalk Road Rage Incident


Cristian Isaac Cardona Mejia (24) of the 1000 block of Middlesex Road in Essex is charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of first degree assault and use of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure in the road rage incident that caused injuries to four people in Dundalk Monday night.

Police responded to multiple calls for a stabbing on North Point Road at Merritt Boulevard on Monday, Sept. 16 around 9 p.m. where they located four adult males suffering from lacerations. All four were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening wounds.

The investigation indicates that two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota pickup truck, were involved in a road rage incident that began on Eastern Boulevard and ended with a confrontation on North Point Road between the driver of the truck and three occupants of the Corolla. The driver of the truck produced a utility knife and assaulted the three other men, also incurring a laceration himself during the altercation.

Cardona Mejia is currently held on no bail status at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.

Police Investigating Stabbing in Parkville


Baltimore County Police responded to a stabbing victim near the North Plaza Mall in Parkville on Saturday, Sept. 14. The victim, a 32-year-old male was found in the 8800-block of Waltham Woods Road around 6 p.m, was transported to a local hospital. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. Officers from the Parkville Precinct were able to locate and arrest the male suspect.

The victim continues to receive medical treatment, his condition is unknown at this time. Both the suspect and victim knew each other. Police have not released the name of the suspect. Additional information will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Golden Ring Barrack Sobriety Checkpoint


Troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack and allied law enforcement agencies will be targeting impaired drivers.

On Sept. 14, troopers in Baltimore County will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint. The goal will be to locate impaired drivers and to promote public awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.

If your weekend plans include alcoholic beverages, The Maryland State Police ask to have a designated driver. The Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack wants to emphasize the preventable nature of drunk driving reminding everyone all it takes is a little planning ahead. Designate a sober driver or call a cab. But whatever you do, don’t drink and drive.

Crash on Belair Road Kills Elderly Woman


A single vehicle crash on Belair Road on Thursday afternoon killed an elderly passenger.

The driver suffered a medical emergency while heading northbound on Belair Road near Silver Spring Road at approximately 2:15 p.m. The vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, jumped the curb and struck a BGE pole.

The driver, a 61-year-old-man, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries and treated for the medical emergency. He is expected to survive. The front passenger, identified as Phyllis Ann Cloud (90) of the unit block of Powhurst Court, 21236, was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where she later died.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene and is continuing their investigation into this fatal crash.

Driver of Suspicious Vehicle Arrested is Identified


The man arrested during an investigation into a van filled with diesel fuel at Royal Farms on Pulaski Highway is identified as Tyrone Gerard Uyaha Strickland (30) of the 400 block of Patuxent Court in La Plata, MD 20646.

Strickland was arrested after the officer stopped the van as it attempted to leave the Royal Farms store and the driver was not able to produce a driver’s license or registration card for the vehicle. A check through the Maryland Vehicle Administration revealed his license was revoked in 2016.

Strickland was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license and issued other relevant traffic citations. He was also charged with five felony charges involving the misuse of the Royal Farms gift cards. He is held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $5000 bond pending a bail review hearing. Criminal charges for the incident are pending further investigation.
