Shooting Reported on Cornwall Road in Dundalk


Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit responded to the 2900 block of Cornwall Road in Dundalk, shortly after 12 a.m. on Sunday, July 18, in reference to a shooting that occurred. The victim suffered from injuries to his upper body.

At the time of the shooting, the 37-year-old victim was outside due to a power outage in the area.

Watermain Break Reported in Dundalk

The Baltimore County Emergency Management Twitter page reported a large watermain break in Dundalk at Ashwood Road and North Point Road near the corner of Drug City Pharmacy on Monday, July 19 before 1 p.m.

Baltimore County Police shut down a portion of Ashwood Road due to large amounts of water.

Motorists are asked to seek an alternate driving route.

Storyville Returns to the Rosedale Library


Storyville Returned to the Baltimore County Public Library Rosedale Branch on Monday with a reopening for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic back in March 2020.

The new Storyville hours are on Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The play-and-learn center will operate at 50% capacity, allowing a total of 30 children and adults at one time.

Storyville is for children from birth through five years old.

Lighting Causes Parkville Apartment Fire

Baltimore County Emergency Crews had a busy day as a result of the strong storms in the area on Saturday, July 7.

Baltimore County Fire Department reported a two alarm condo fire in the 2200 block of Lowells Glen Road in Parkville.

The fire was reported through the roof. Crews evacuated tenants and pets. Everyone got out safely. No injuries were reported. The fire started before 3 p.m.

Investigators have confirmed this fire began with a lightning strike.

Tree Damages Two Essex Apartment Buildings


There have been multiple reports of damages from the storm throughout the day.

Another area that saw storm damage was Essex.

The Baltimore County Fire Department reported a tree heavily damaged the two apartment buildings in the 900 block of Garden Drive on Saturday afternoon.

Several families were displaced. No injuries were reported. Building engineers and the RedCross responded to the scene.

Chesaco Ave & Philadelphia Road Flooded

The Rosedale Volunteer Fire Company told motorists to avoid the area of Philadelphia Road and Chesaco Avenue on Saturday afternoon. Crews were on scene with major flooding.

Many low-lying areas are flooding around Baltimore County at this time so please be careful and do not enter any standing water.

Flooding Causing Major Issues on Pulaski Highway

Water rescued from car & propane leak at building on Pulaski

The Baltimore County Emergency Management Twitter page reports several water rescue calls along Pulaski Highway in the Rosedale area. Other roads on the east side of the county are also flooded.

The Baltimore County Volunteer Fireman’s Association reported that a vechile was trapped in floodwater and two people were rescued on Pulaski Highway near Contractor Road on Saturday around 4:15 p.m.

The Fireman’s Association also reported a propane leak at a building in the 7800 block of Pulaski Highway.

Motorists are being told to -AVOID Pulaski Highway and find another route.

There is a Flood Warning for most of Eastern Baltimore County until 6:30 p.m.

The County reminds motorists to not drive into high water on any roads.

If you see a flooded road, turn around!

Shredding Day Held at North Point Library


Do you have paperwork with private information that you don’t want to just throw in the trash?

The Baltimore County Public Library will hold a Community Shredding Day on Saturday, July 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the North Point Library, 1716 Merritt Blvd. in Dundalk.

There is a three box limit per car. Business or commercial shredding is not permitted at this event. It is for personal/residential users.

BCPS Holding Job Fair for Qualified Educators


Baltimore County Public Schools is hosting a job fair seeking qualified educators to join its team. BCPS is hiring art, elementary, English, French, math, music, physical education, science, Spanish, special education and technical education teachers.

The school system is also seeking library media specialists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school nurses, social workers, speech language pathologists, teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, and teachers of the visually impaired. Applicants can apply online in advance of the job fair.

The event will be held on Tuesday, July 27, from 3 – 7 p.m. at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, 938 York Road in Towson.
