Police Look for Suspect in Three Robberies Near Perry Hall High


Baltimore County Police are looking for a suspect in three separate incidents in the robbery of students. All three incidents took place near Perry Hall High School and police believe the same suspect is involved in all three cases.

The first reported armed robbery took place on Nov. 12 around 3:30 p.m. at the Perry Hall High school basketball courts. According to police, an unknown suspect implied he had a gun and robbed two students of their iPhones and iWatches.

Police reported other incidents took place on Nov. 4 and again on Jan. 28. In both cases, the suspect approached female students and demanded their cellphones. One victim chased the suspect, but she stopped when the suspect implied he had a gun and would shoot her.

In both cases, the suspect was reported running in a wooded area near Parlo Road. Police have a photo (above) from a residential video surveillance. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Baltimore County Police at 410-887-5040.

Police Investigate Gunshot Wound in Middle River


Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Detectives are investigating an incident in Middle River that left a victim injured on Thursday.

Officers responded to the unit block of Oak Grove Drive in Middle River for a call of a gunshot wound on 4:42 p.m. Responding officers located a victim who sustained trauma to the lower body. Medics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. The victim is expected to survive.

Nottingham Man Killed in I-95 Catonsville Accident


Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning in Baltimore County.

Shortly before 1:25 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to Interstate 95 North south of I-195 for a report of a single-vehicle crash that involved a pedestrian.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of a Mercedes sedan was traveling north on I-95 when he felt something strike the left side of his vehicle.

After coming to a complete stop, the driver saw a body lying on the left shoulder. The victim, identified as Joel Hopkins, 34, of Nottingham, was transported by ambulance by EMS personnel from the Baltimore County Fire Department to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was declared deceased.

According to a preliminary investigation, there is no indication that drugs, alcohol and/or speeding was a factor in this crash. It is also currently unclear why the victim was on the interstate at the time of the crash. The only vehicle at the scene was the Mercedes that struck the victim.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police Arrest Man in Sunday Afternoon Middle River Stabbing


Police arrested a suspect in the afternoon home-invasion robbery and stabbing of a man in Middle River on Sunday, Feb. 2.

The suspect knocked on the door of a home in the unit block of Oakgrove Drive in Middle River shortly after 1 p.m. When a female resident answered the door he displayed a handgun and a knife, entered, and demanded cash and personal items. The suspect struck the woman with the gun and forced her into a closet, then stabbed a male victim and fled the location on foot. The suspect later threatened his girlfriend with the gun.

The victim suffered life-threatening wounds but is expected to survive. Detectives learned that the suspect frequented the area and were able to locate him and take him into custody shortly after 5 a.m. this morning. The suspect is identified as Reginald Louis Barber Jr (29) of the unit block of Oakroad Drive, 21220. He is held on denied bail status at the Baltimore County Detention Center, charged with attempted first degree murder, three counts each of first and second degree assault, and two counts of misdemeanor theft.

Sheriff’s Office Employee and Fullerton Man Indicted on 2nd Degree Rape Charge


A Baltimore County Sheriff’s Office employee has been indicted by a Grand Jury on one count of second degree rape.

Baltimore County Police initiated an investigation after being notified of the allegation of a sexual assault on November 30, 2018. The investigation was conducted in consultation with the Office of the State’s Attorney for Carroll County after the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore County recused itself from the case due to the close working relationship between both agencies.
The Grand Jury indictment is sealed, prohibiting details of the case from being released at this time.

A warrant was issued on Jan. 27, at which time the sheriff, identified as Morton Stanley Winkler Jr (54) of the 7700 block of Jennelles Way in Fullerton, was taken into custody. He was released on his own recognizance following a bail review hearing.

Dundalk Officer Injured After Driver Strikes Police Car


A Baltimore County Police officer from the Dundalk Precinct was injured last night after his police vehicle was struck by another driver on Sollers Point Road.

The officer was northbound on Sollers Point Road at 9:58 p.m. on Jan. 27 when a Chevrolet Aveo, also traveling northbound to the rear of the police vehicle but in the southbound travel lane, struck the police vehicle as it was making a left turn onto Waymouth Way, pushing the police car back across the northbound lane and into a driveway where it struck two parked cars. The Chevrolet continued forward on Sollers Point Road, crossing over the southbound lane and striking a tree.

The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing the investigation to determine what factors contributed to this crash.

Man Found Dead After Double Shooting in Essex


A double shooting in Essex left one man dead.

On Jan. 24 around 5:11 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Holgate Drive for a shooting. Arriving officers found two adult men outside a home who were both suffering gunshot wounds. Medics responded and transported one man to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased man has been identified as David Leroy King, 29, of the 2100 block of Westfield Road.

Fatal Accident Reported on Silver Spring Road in Perry Hall


Baltimore County Police responded to a crash on Silver Spring Road near Winding Way in Perry Hall just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. Crash investigators were able to determine that a Dodge Ram truck was traveling east on Silver Spring Road when the vehicle struck a concrete wall at the dead end of the roadway.

The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company reported that the vehicle crashed through the I-95 sound barrier wall at the end of Silver Spring Road near Silver Lake Drive. The vehicle was fully involved in fire as emergency crews were on the scene at both the end of Silver Spring Rd and on southbound I-95.

The driver was pronounced deceased by medical personnel shortly afterwards but was not identified at this time. The passenger of the truck was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There is no access to I-95 from Silver Spring Road but there is speculation that the driver was not aware of this and might have tried to access the Interstate. More information will be provided as the crash investigation moves forward.

Two Alarm Fire Reported in Kingsville


Firefighters from Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company reported a two alarm fire on Franklinville Road in Kingsville. The incident was reported at two story building on Wednesday afternoon around 5 p.m. The fire was quickly upgraded to a second alarm.

There was a report of a partial collapse of the Kingsville home. No injuries reported.

White Marsh Police Officer Charged With Burglary


Baltimore County Police Officer Frank Wilcox, 35, has been charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree assault. Wilcox is a 17-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department. His most recent assignment was at the White Marsh Precinct.

Baltimore County Police responded to the 7400-block of Blevins Avenue in Edgemere on Jan. 6 around 1 p.m. for the report of an assault. The subsequent investigation determined that Wilcox began an argument with the homeowners at this location over a domestic issue, forced his way inside the house, and then pushed the victim. The victim fell to the floor after being pushed.

Other witnesses were able to remove Wilcox from the area prior to police arrival. Wilcox later turned himself into police during the investigation.

“The officers of the Baltimore County Police Department are obligated to not only enforce the law but to uphold the law in both their professional and personal lives. The allegations that have been made in this case are serious and very concerning, they are not representative of the values and ethics of the many officers and professional staff of the Baltimore County Police Department who dedicate their lives to ensuring the safety of others. Mr. Wilcox remains suspended without pay while the judicial process takes place,” said Cpl. Shawn Vinson from the Baltimore County Police Department.

Wilcox is currently being held at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on a denied bail status.
