Overlea Shooting Reported on Raspe Avenue


Detectives with the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit continue to investigate a shooting that occurred Wednesday. Shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 4600 block of Raspe Avenue in Overlea.

The victims told police two suspects approached them and fired shots. The suspects then fled the scene. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for their injuries. One victim has been treated and released.

As this investigation continues, VCU detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Raspe Avenue Wednesday evening to contact them by calling 410-307-2020.

Zavala Named Dundalk Officer of the Month


Baltimore County Police announced that Officer Zavala was been named Officer of the Month for the Dundalk Precinct 12 in August.

According to the report, Officer Zavala had one felony case clear, six misdemeanor case clearances and one misdemeanor arrest. She assisted a family who was the target of a bias incident by thoroughly investigation, charging and arresting the suspect responsible.

“Officer Zavala is bilingual and has been an asset to the department and community,” said a statement from Baltimore County Police.

Savoy Named Parkville Officer of the Month


Baltimore County Police announced that Officer Savoy was been named Officer of the Month for Parkville Precinct 8 in August.

According to the report, Savoy conducted 49 business check-ins, issued 21 citations and had seven traffic warnings. She made five arrests total.

Three were DUIs and she had nine cleared cases. She cleared two robbery cases and took two handguns off the street.

“Officer Savoy continue to demonstrating an undying commitment to uphold her oath and protect the lives and the property of citizens of Baltimore County,” said a statement from Baltimore County Police.

Man Fatally Shot on Oberle Ave in Essex


Baltimore County Police reported that
59-year-old Dante Doles was killed on Sept. 5 in the 200 block of Oberle Avenue in Essex around 9 a.m.

Officers responded for a shooting and found Doles suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he pronounced deceased.

Baltimore County Police Homicide detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this murder.

Middle River Man Arrested at I-95 Traffic Stop


Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police have arrested a 28-year-old Middle River man on weapons and drug distribution charges stemming from an Aug. 20 traffic stop in White Marsh. MDTA Police Officers took the man into custody Thursday, September 2, with assistance from the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, and were assisted by the Baltimore County Police Department during the initial investigation.

Shortly after midnight Aug. 20, an MDTA Police Officer assigned to the Central Command Detachment conducted a traffic stop on a dark blue Nissan Maxima for drifting across lane lines on northbound I-95 near Exit 67. As the officer approached the stopped vehicle, the vehicle fled the scene.

MDTA Police Officers responded to the address of the fleeing vehicle’s registered owner. While at the address, officers located the vehicle and observed a male subject exit the vehicle and place a backpack in a trash receptacle. When officers approached the man, he fled on foot. Officers seized the backpack and discovered a loaded handgun and baggies of suspected crack cocaine and marijuana inside. During their investigation, officers learned the handgun had been reported stolen by the Hampshire County (W.Va.) Sheriff’s Office.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence of the fleeing vehicle’s registered owner. During the investigation and the execution of the search warrant, officers seized additional firearms, drugs and ammunition.

As a result of their investigation, MDTA Police Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Deshawn Murdock, 28, of Middle River. After his arrest Thursday, Murdock was transported to the Baltimore County Detention Center. He faces 14 criminal charges including controlled dangerous substance (drug) possession with intent to distribute and possession of a stolen firearm.

Two Dundalk Deaths Ruled as Murder/Suicide


Baltimore County Police Department  have now ruled last week’s case in the 3100 block of Baybriar Road in Dundalk as a murder/suicide.

Officers found Susan LeBrun and Dennis LeBrun Sr. (wife and husband), inside their home, each suffering from a single gunshot wound on Aug. 26.

After conducting a thorough investigation, Baltimore County homicide detectives have determined Dennis LeBrun Sr. fatally shot his wife before shooting himself. A note and firearm were recovered at the scene. The firearm was registered to Susan LeBrun.

Eagle Scout Unveils Tribute to Amy Caprio

Eagle Scout Owen Mrok with Boy Scout Troop 124 set out to create a project to honor fallen Parkville Officer Amy Caprio.

On Sunday, Mrok revealed his tribute to Caprio at the Parkville Police Precinct. He decided to honor Caprio with a memorial garden at the police station.

According to Baltimore County Police, the garden includes plants native to Maryland, an engraved granite bench, beautiful walkway and cast bronze plaque affixed to a boulder.

Councilman David Marks attend the unveiling of the project on Sunday.

“I have known Owen and his family for more than a decade. He has matured into a confident young man, and he completed a truly meaningful project,” Marks said.
