BCPS Releases High School Construction Recommendations


Baltimore County and Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) have released the recommendations from the first phase of the Multi-Year Improvement Plan for All Schools (MYIPAS).

MYIPAS is a 10-year capital planning process that will identify and prioritize needed improvements to Baltimore County’s school infrastructure.

The first phase focused on high schools. The second phase, focusing on all remaining schools, centers, and programs, is scheduled to be complete in May 2021. A final report is expected by fall 2021.

“We view the development of this plan as an important step forward on the path toward ensuring that all of our school buildings offer the type of physical environment most conducive for teaching and learning,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Darryl L. Williams.

Part of the construction recommendations has three groups based on priority.

Group 1 is considered the highest priority and is called Legacy Project which includes a $150 million demolition/reconstruction 1700-seat capacity school at Lansdowne High School.

The Group 2 recommendations is called Critical Additions which includes for four projects:
• Additional 650 seats to Dundalk High School
• Additional 500 seats and renovation for a new kitchen and cafeteria area at Towson High School
• Additional 200 seats and renovation at Loch Raven High School, which would relieve some overcrowding at Parkville High School
• Additional 250 seats to Patapsco High Center for the Arts

The Group 3 Recommendations is Relief Schools and/or Additions for a new high school in the northeast area of Baltimore County area and a new middle school/high school in the Sparrows Point/Edgemere area.

There are two options for both areas depending on funding. The first option calls for Perry Hall High School to add 225 seats with an addition to the cafeteria area; additional 200 seats to Overlea High School; and an additional 75 seats to Kenwood High School. Those three additions are projected to cost $50 million.

The second option for the northeast area is for Baltimore County to acquire land and to build a 1,200 seat new high school, along with the Perry Hall High renovation plan. Total cost is projected at $200 million.

Fifth District Councilman David Marks said he favors new school buildings.

“For more than two decades, I have worked to build new schools in Baltimore County. We have had some success with the construction of Honeygo Elementary School and county funding for two new schools,” Marks said in a statement.

“While these recommendations are preliminary, I do not support warehousing students by building additions at already-crowded schools. This plan needs input, scrutiny and changes.”

In Sparrows Point, both the high school and middle school share one building.
The first plan is to add 325 seats to the high school for around $50 million. The second proposal is build a new 750-seat middle school at a new location at $200 million and renovate the high school/middle school campus into a larger Sparrows Point High school.

Of course, the plans will be determined by the amount of funding. It appeared that Baltimore County and other jurisdictions throughout the state were going to be beneficiaries of the Learn to Build Act. The $400 million school construction bill was passed by the Maryland General Assembly and was expected to be signed into law by Gov. Larry Hogan. Then the coronavirus pandemic hit and Hogan vetoed all spending bills. The Maryland General Assembly could override Hogan’s veto.

A portion of that bill would provide funding for three northeast Baltimore County school projects; a new elementary school in the Rossville area, a new middle school at Nottingham Park on King Avenue and to expand Pine Grove Middle School in Carney.

If the veto is overridden and Baltimore County commits local matching funds, large renovation projects for all assessed adequacy, equity, and condition priorities could take place at all schools within 15 years.

If the Learn to Build Act does not provide local funding, there are two scenarios.

The first scenario would prioritize renovations for reduced scope at all schools within 15 years. The other scenario is not recommended by Baltimore County but would provide single large renovations every two – three years, but with many schools waiting decades for improvements.

“Every student in Baltimore County, regardless of their zip code, deserves access to a safe, modern school facility that meets the needs of their community,” said County Executive Johnny Olszewski.

“With aging infrastructure and a growing population, we have significant needs at the high school level, and these initial recommendations will serve as a critical resource as we work to ensure equitable allocation of resources throughout the County.”

The initial recommendations were developed by consultants from CannonDesign, a national architecture and planning company that has led over 1,300 education facility projects across the country, including over 200 education master plans.

Police National Night Out Events Announced


The 37th annual National Night Out is being celebrated on Tuesday, October 6 this year. The COVID-19 pandemic may have communities celebrating a little differently and later in the year, but one thing remains the same and that is the partnerships and camaraderie that are strengthened as police and citizens unite in neighborhoods.

Community engagement has been especially challenging this year. This annual community-building campaign is an opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances and enhance relationships with the goal of keeping neighborhoods safe.

Police Seek Identity of Food Lion Shoplifter


Police from the Essex Precinct is asking for help identifying the suspect (pictured), responsible for stealing nine bottles of detergent from the Food Lion store in the 1400 block of Fuselage Avenue in Middle River.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, the suspect entered the store and picked up the detergent. He fled without paying, dropping three of the bottles as he fled toward the bridge under Orems Road that leads to Canberra Drive in the Middlesex community. This suspect may be responsible for additional similar thefts from the Food Lion.

BCPS Working on Plan for High School Fall Sports


Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) Superintendent Dr. Darryl L. Williams said he is consulting with BCPS officials about the possibility of starting high schools this fall.

This is after State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Salmon announced that schools may resume high school fall sports as soon as Oct. 7.

“I recognize that athletics plays a vital role in the educational success and engagement of students,” Williams said. “In light of the State Superintendent’s announcement, I am consulting with our Office of Athletics, athletic directors, Return to Play Committee, and Baltimore County Health Department to determine if and how adjustments to our plan can be safely made. If adjustments can be safely made, we will share those adjustments with the community.”

Earlier this summer, BCPS convened a Return to Play Committee. This committee worked with school system medical staff and the Baltimore County Health Department to determine that, based on then-current health conditions, it would be safest for BCPS to begin the year with a virtual coaching and support program and move toward possible in-person athletics during the spring. This approach was endorsed by Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) guidance and supported by the MPSSAA’s eventual decision to cancel the start of athletics for fall 2020.

BCPS Reverses Timeline For Staff Return


Baltimore County Public Schools has revised its timeline for a phased-in resumption of in-person learning. The revised timeline calls for staff to return to the school system’s four public separate day schools on Monday, Nov. 2, with students at those schools having the option to begin in-person learning on Monday, Nov. 16.

The schools to be impacted – Battle Monument, Maiden Choice, Ridge Ruxton, and White Oak – serve students with disabilities who receive special education and related services. According to the school system, the return of these students and staff will be closely monitored, and further adjustments will be made as necessary.

The timeline no longer calls for all staff to return to school buildings in October and no longer calls for identified preschool, PreKindergarten, and Kindergarten students to resume in-person learning in November.

“Making plans in this ever-changing landscape is challenging and requires flexibility,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Darryl L. Williams. “Through it all, our priority continues to be the health and safety of our students and staff while maximizing learning and wellbeing. We are focused on providing rigorous and engaging instruction for all students and finding ways to provide in-person learning to those students who will benefit most.”

BCPS is seeking feedback from families and staff regarding the revised timeline. Families of students at the four schools slated to physically reopen in November will be surveyed from October 2 – 9 to indicate whether they want their children to return to the school building or continue online instruction. In addition, all BCPS stakeholders may send feedback to reopening@bcps.org for review by the BCPS Reopening Design Team and COVID-19 task force.

State Allows Fall High School Sports to Start Oct. 7


Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Karen B. Salmon, Ph.D. announced the ability for each local school system (LSS) to officially start the interscholastic athletic fall season in Maryland secondary schools beginning Wednesday, Oct. 7

The decision of the State Superintendent was reached after recent discussions with the State Board of Education, the 24 local school system Superintendents, the Executive Director of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA), parents, and other stakeholders. Additional considerations included current health metrics and guidance provided by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) as Maryland continues to operate in the early portion of Stage Three of its Roadmap to Recovery plan.

Local school systems, at their discretion, may opt into commencing a fall competition season or playing all three sport seasons within the Two-Semester Plan option announced by the MPSSAA on Sept. 11. By electing to begin fall sports now, LSSs have the ability to start competitions on Oct. 27 and play into the second week of December.
The decision also affords greater opportunities for winter and spring sport competition during the 2020-2021 academic year.

October 7 Option For Fall Sports

All school systems shall, as soon as possible, provide conditioning and training opportunities utilizing the current available options provided by the MPSSAA.
On October 7, 2020, all local school systems may choose to begin formal fall sport season practices in preparation for a competition season which will begin on October 27. All practices and preparation must be in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) required practice regulations, and all face covering and public health protocols established by the state and local health departments.
The state is expanding the seasonal competition timeframes as previously announced for all winter and spring sports within this plan.
The October 7 option provides for seven weeks of competition for fall sports—including cross country, field hockey, football, golf, soccer, and volleyball:
First available practice date: October 7, 2020
First available competition date: October 27, 2020 (Golf may resume competition on October 7, 2020.)
Last play date: December 12, 2020
Culminating event/tournament: December 14-19, 2020
With the October 7 option, winter sports can begin practice on December 14, and spring sports can begin practice on March 15.
Local school systems that choose not to exercise the October 7 option for fall sports may utilize the Second Semester Plan option as previously announced.

Perry Hall Dollar Tree to Reopen October 1


It has been announced that the Dollar Tree in Perry Hall will reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The store, located at 4327 Ebenezer Road, has been closed since a fire started in the basement in June.

No injuries were reported, but the fire caused more damage than was originally reported.

The store has been closed over the summer as crews have renovated the store. The closure of the Ebenezer location had local residents heading down to the Dollar Trees in Fullerton and Middle River for the summer.

Berkshire Student’s Artwork on Display Statewide


Tree of Life” by Isabella Heinerichs, a Grade 3 student at Berkshire Elementary School, and “Shoes” by Kelsey Anders, a Grade 8 student at Ridgely Middle School, are the two artworks that will represent Baltimore County Public Schools in the 2020 Fall First Lady’s Virtual Gallery.

The exhibition, featuring two pieces of student artwork from each Maryland jurisdiction, is virtual this year. By mid-October, this year’s exhibition will be available for view on the Maryland State Department of Education website.

Each year, the Maryland State Department of Education works with its partners and with Maryland First Lady Yumi Hogan to host bi-annual statewide student artwork competitions and exhibitions. Most years, the art is displayed in the House of Delegates building in Annapolis.

Assault in Middle River-Due to a dispute with the victim’s family member on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 4:45 p.m., the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim who was standing in the window in Cool Breeze Drive in Middle River.

Robbery on Beach Road in White Marsh-While walking towards the front door of the residence in the 13000 block of Beach Road in White Marsh, the victim was approached from behind by unknown suspect(s). One suspect grabbed her and assaulted her until she passed out on Friday, Dec. 18 at 9:45 p.m. The suspect(s) stole her work laptop, cell phone, purse and a work bag before fleeing.

Phone Store Robbed in Middle River-A suspect entered the T-Mobile store in the 100 block of Middle River Road After a verbal argument with an employee, the suspect opened the cash register and began taking money from the register on Tuesday, Dec. 14 around 10:32 a.m. The employee attempted to stop the suspect. The suspect assaulted the employee, took more money from the register and fled on foot. The suspect was captured a short distance away.

Burglary in Middle River-Sometime between midnight on December 12 and 11 a.m. on December 18, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s apartment in the 300 block of Nitram Court in Middle River by unknown means and took a bag of spices and medical equipment.

Phone Store Robbed in Rosedale-Two unknown suspects entered the AT&T store in the 8800 block of Rosedale, implied a weapon, and stole an undetermined amount of merchandise and currency on Friday, Dec. 11 at 6:17 p.m.

Week of Dec. 9

Middle River Robbery-Three unknown suspects ran up to the victim, assaulted him and went through the victim’s pockets in the 9800 block of Tailspin Lane in Middle River. The three suspects took the victim’s cash and a wallet and then fled in a vehicle on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 9:20 p.m.

Hawthorne Juvenile Robbed in Hawthorne- An unknown suspect exited a vehicle in the 300 block of Grovethorn Road in Hawthorne, displayed a gun to a juvenile victim and demanded his belongings on Monday, Dec. 7 at 9:10 p.m. The victim fled to his residence and contacted 911. The suspects left in the vehicle. Nothing was stolen from the victim.

Man Arrested After Essex Assault- A known suspect kicked the front door down of the victim’s residence in the unit block of Landmark Court in Essex, assaulted the victim and then left the location on foot on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 9:50 a.m. The suspect was later arrested.

Burglary in Chase -On Thursday, Dec. 3 at 9:41 p.m., a known suspect stole a TV, medications, a credit card and money from the 12300 block of Eastern Avenue in Chase.
Week of Nov. 26
Dirt Bike Stolen at Gun Point- A victim was riding his dirt bike when he was followed by a vehicle with two unknown suspects inside in the 2200 block of Eastern Avenue in Middle River. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and stole the victim’s dirt bike on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 3:30 p.m.

Burglary in Hawthorne-Sometime between 9 p.m. on Nov. 30 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 1, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry through the unlocked rear door in the 2100 block of Coral Thorn Road in Hawthorne. Multiple items were taken from the location.

Game System Stolen Out of Essex Home- Sometime between 5 p.m. on Nov. 28 and 2 a.m. on Nov. 29, an unknown suspect forced open the backdoor of the residence in the unit block of Ebbtide Count in Essex and stole a new game system.

Victim Assaulted in Middle River- An armed suspect assaulted the victim during an argument on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 5:50 a.m. The known suspect was arrested at the scene in the 4100 block of Cutty Sark Road in Middle River. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Robbery in Hawthorne- A victim was assaulted by two known suspects on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 9:29 p.m. and his cell phone was forcefully stolen from his possession in the South Hawthorne Road. The two suspects were placed under arrest and the victim’s property was recovered.

Essex Robbery-A victim was robbed by an unknown armed suspect who approached him from behind and demanded his belongings in the 800 block of Briar Hill Place in Essex. The victim refused and a physical altercation occurred leaving the victim with non life-threatening injuries on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m.

Week of Nov. 18
Robbed in Middle River- Two suspects, one armed, approached the victims in the unit block of Finnsbu Place in Middle River and demanded their property on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 1:25 p.m. The suspects stole a cell phone, cash and other miscellaneous items from the victims before fleeing the scene.

Burglary at South Marlyn Liquors-An unknown suspect pried open the front door of South Marlyn Liquor in the in the 700-block South Marlyn Avenue by smashing the front glass door. The suspect stole cigarettes and cash on Friday, Nov. 12 at 3:40 a.m. On Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 12:15 a.m. The suspect then fled on foot.

The suspect stole cash and four cartons of cigarettes On Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 12:15 a.m. The suspect then fled on foot.

Attempted Dirt Bike Burglary-On Monday, Nov. 16 1:30 a.m., two unknown suspects attempted to steal a dirt bike from the victim’s shed in the 200-block of Mulberry Lane in Middle River. The suspects then fled the scene when the victim saw them by the shed.

Robbery at Essex ATM- After depositing money into an ATM, a victim returned to his vehicle in the 600 block of Eastern Boulevard in Essex where an armed suspect entered his vehicle and demanded the victim return to the ATM to withdraw money. The suspect took the money fled on foot on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6:45 p.m.

Wampler Road Burglary-At 11:55 a.m., a known suspect kicked open the front door of the victim’s residence in the 500 block of Wampler Road in Middle River and stole a cell phone and purse belonging to the victim on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 11:55 a.m. The suspect was later apprehended and placed under arrest.

Keys Stole From Home- An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s home on Northrop Lane in Middle River and stole keys and a wallet on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 1:10 a.m..

Household Appliance Stolen with Other Items- Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 an unknown suspect broke off the window screen to gain entry through an unlocked window in the 700 block of Shipfriend Road in Middle River . The suspect stole the victim’s wallet, purse, car keys and a household appliance. The purse and household appliance were recovered nearby.

Another Purse Stolen from Middle River Home- Sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 and 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, an unknown suspect cut the screen of the victim’s kitchen window to gain entry in the 9800 block of Edisto Way in Middle River . Once inside, the suspect stole the victim’s purse and then fled.

Burglary at Freestate Indoor Sports Arena- A known suspect gained entry into the Freestate Indoor Sports Arena in the 5800 block of Allender Road in White Marsh with three unidentified subjects and stole cash, a check and sodas on Saturday, Nov 7 at 1 p.m.

Lawn Equipment Stolen– Sometime between 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s property in the 100 block of Foxwood Lane in Essex and forced the locked shed door open. Lawn equipment was stolen.

Week of Nov. 3

Second-Degree Burglary: On Tuesday, Nov. 3 between 2:45 and 6 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) broke into two trailers at Classic Lawn & Landscaping in the 100 block of Earls Road in Middle River and stole several pieces of lawn equipment.

Second-Degree Burglary: An unknown suspect entered the shed in the unit block of Pelczar Avenue in Essex and stole several tools on Monday, Nov. 2 at 8:30 p.m..

First-Degree Burglary: An unknown suspect attempted to gain entry into the victim’s apartment in the 9800 block of Tailspin Lane in Middle River. The suspect fled the area before entry was gained on Monday, Oct. 26 at 8:34 p.m.

Week of Oct. 21

Second-Degree Burglary-A suspect broke the glass at the Dunkin’ Donuts drive through window in the unit block of Longeron Drive in Middle River with a hammer on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 9:15 p.m. The suspect then stole three cash drawers from the registers and several beverages. The suspect was arrested.

Robbery- On Monday, Oct. 19 around 4:40 p.m., a victim was robbed of his money and his bicycle by two suspects in the 800 block of Martin Road in Essex.
Second-Degree Burglary- An unknown suspect stole a mountain bike and a tree trimmer from the victim’s shed in the 200 block of George Avenue in Essex on Sunday, Oct. 18 around 12:21 p.m.

Robbery- Two victims were robbed at gunpoint in the 11400 block of Pulaski Highway in White Marsh by an unknown suspect. The suspect discharged his firearm during this incident on Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:36 p.m. No one was injured. The suspect stole cash from one of the victims and then fled.

Second Degree Burglary-Sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and 6:30 a.m. on Oct.15, an unknown suspect(s) broke into a detached garage on the victims’ property and stole three dirtbikes in the 3500 block of Edwards Lane in Middle River.

Robbery- Two suspects assaulted the victim on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. and stole the victim’s bicycle before fleeing in a vehicle in the 100 block of Yawmeter Drive in Middle River. The suspects were located and arrested. The bicycle was recovered.

Robbery- On Wednesday, Oct. 14, a victim was robbed of a cigarette and his cash by an unknown suspect while walking home in the 1200 block of Martin Boulevard in Middle River.

Week of Oct. 10
Attempted Second-Degree Burglary-An unknown suspect used an unknown tool to smash the lock to the shed door in the 1200 block of Evergreen Lane in Essex. The lock was destroyed but nothing was taken from the shed on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 3 a.m.

Robbery-The suspect entered the Royal Farms store in the 3300 block Eastern Boulevard in Middle River and displayed a knife and stole cash from the register on Friday, Oct. 11. The suspect then fled on foot.

Second Degree Burglary- on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 a.m., two unknown suspects broke the glass door of the secured Tobacco and Vape King store in the 100 block of Carroll Island Road in Middle River. Once inside, they removed multiple vape pens, cigars and lighters. The suspects then fled on foot.

First-Degree Assault- On Wednesday, Oct. 7 around 1:30 p.m., a known suspect stabbed the victim in the arm with a pair of scissors in the 9800 block of Avro Road in Middle River. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

First-Degree Assault- An unknown suspect entered the Royal Farms in the 3300 block of Eastern Boulevard in Middle River displayed a knife to the cashier and demanded money on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 8:51 p.m. The suspect then fled on foot.

First-Degree Burglary- Sometime between noon on Friday, Oct. 2 and 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, an unknown suspect(s) possibly gained entry through an unsecured window and removed clothing items, two lamps and various cleaning supplies in the 100 block of Benoni Circle in Middle River.

Robbery- A victim was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown suspect on Friday, Oct. 2 at 10:09 a.m. in the 500 block of Mace Avenue in Essex. Two suspects were arrested.

Second Degree Burglary- Police reported that a victim’s shed in the 10500 block of Windlass Run in Middle River was pried open with an unknown tool and various tools and lawn equipment were stolen on Tuesday, Sept. 30 around 3:30 p.m.

Second Degree Burglary- On Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 4:25 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) gained entry into Your First Pharmacy in the 500 block of Eastern Boulevard in Essex by prying open the front door. The location was ransacked, a cash register drawer was damaged and medication was stolen.

Second Degree Burglary- Three unknown suspects broke into the One Stop Convenience store in the 300 block of Stemmers Run Road in Essex and stole an ATM on Tuesday, Sept. 30 around 4:15 a.m.

Week of Sept. 26
First Degree Assault- Two unknown suspects assaulted the victim on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 5:19 p.m.. The unknown suspects then left and entered a nearby building in the 1400 block of Hadwick Drive in Essex.

Second Degree Burglary- An unknown suspect forced entry into Dunn-Rite Automotive in the 1500 block of Martin Boulevard in Middle River and stole a cash box containing cash on Sunday, Sept 27 at 10 p.m.

Second Degree Burglary- A suspect was moving property in the 500 block of Dorsey Road in Essex from the victims’ garage when he was chased down by the property owner. The suspect attempted to steal a bicycle, electronic equipment and miscellaneous property on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4:30 a.m. The suspect was arrested and some property was recovered.

First Degree Assault- On Friday, Sept. 25 at 1:30 a.m., an unknown suspect fired several shots at the victim’s house in the 1000 block of Cord Street.

First Degree Burglary- Sometime between 11 and 11:40 a.m., a known suspect gained entry into the victim’s residence in the 300 block of Stillwater Road in Essex and stole tools on Sept. 23 at 11 a.m.

Second Degree Burglary-Sometime between 8 p.m. on September 21 and 9:30 a.m. on September 22, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry into Testimony Auto LLC in the 100 block of Back River Neck Road through an unsecured door. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole various power tools, a laptop, money and miscellaneous items.
Week of Sept. 17

First Degree Assault- Two victims were assaulted when they got into a confrontation with an unknown suspect who was driving a vehicle in the neighborhood in the 2300 block of Bauernschmidt Drive in Essex. The suspect then struck one of the victims with the car. Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. Officers located and arrested the suspect on Sept. 19.

First Degree Burglary- Sometime between 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 1:24 p.m. on Sept. 18, an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s residence by smashing out a door window. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole several tools in the 100 block of South Taylor Avenue in Essex.

Second Degree Burglary- Sometime between noon on Sept. 17 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 20, an unknown suspect cut the lock to the victim’s shed in the 2100 block of Redthorn in Middle River and stole miscellaneous tools.

Week of Dec. 4
Robbery at Rosedale Walgreens-A suspect pretended to make a purchase at the register at Walgreens in the 8600 block of Philadelphia Road. During the transaction, the suspect reached over the counter, shoved the clerk’s arm and grabbed cash from the register on Friday, Dec. 10 at 11:20 a.m. The suspect then fled.

Shots Fired at Overlea House-An unknown suspect exited a vehicle, walked up to the house in the 400 block of Walcott Road and fired multiple shots into the front of the home on Monday, Dec 7 at 3:41 a.m. None of the occupants in the home were injured.

Shed Burglary in Perry Hall-An unknown suspect(s) pried both doors of the victim’s shed in the 4400 block of Cross Brook Drive in Perry Hall and removed property on Friday, Dec. 4 at 10:00 p.m.

Golden Ring Middle School Vandalized-Sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 and 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, an unknown suspect(s) removed a window at Golden Ring Middle School in the 6700 block of Kenwood Avenue to gain entry. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole various food items from the cafeteria and sprayed graffiti in the hallway of the school.
Week of Nov. 21
Kingsville Shed Burglary– Sometime between 5 p.m. on Nov. 29 and 9:35 a.m. on Dec. 2, an unknown suspect(s) broke into the victim’s shed in the 12100 block of Philadelphia Road in Kingsville and stole property.

Attempted Rosedale Shed Burglary- Two of the victim’s sheds were tampered with in the 9000 block of Philadelphia Road in Rosedale on Sunday, Nov. 29 around 8:34 a.m. No items were removed from the sheds.

Home Invasion Attempt in Perry Hall- At 5:50 p.m., the suspect attempted to gain entry into the residence in the 8900 block of Whitetail Court in Perry Hall through the back door and disabled the security camera on Saturday, Nov. 28 around 5:50 p.m. The suspect fled after the victim called 911 and was later apprehended and charged.

Pills & Cash Stolen in Rosedale-A victim was assaulted by two unknown suspects in the 800 block of Pulaski Highway in Rosedale. The suspects took a bag containing cash and a pill bottle on Tuesday, Nov. 24 around 2:30 a.m. The suspects fled in a vehicle.

Robbery in Overlea– A victim was robbed on Saturday, Nov. 21 of multiple electronics by an unknown armed suspect(s) in the 4300 block of Kenwood Avenue in Overlea.

Carjacking in Overlea-A victim was stopped at the light in Overlea at the intersection of Belair Road and East Overlea Avenue when two unknown suspects approached the vehicle and struck the victim with a handgun. The suspects then took the victim’s vehicle and fled on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7:40 p.m.
Week of Nov. 14

Uber/Lyft Driver Carjacked- The suspect ordered a ridesharing service on Friday, Nov. 20 at 12:10 a.m. When the victim picked up the suspect, the suspect assaulted the victim to obtain control of the victim’s vehicle while driving in the 7500 block of Belair Road near Fullerton Avenue in Overlea. The suspect was arrested.

Macy’s Burglarized- On Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 a.m., three unknown suspects broke the glass doors to gain entry into Macy’s at White Marsh Mall in the 8200 block of Perry Hall Boulevard and removed clothing and accessories. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Robbery in Rosedale- An unknown suspect approached the victim’s vehicle in the 6300 block of Kenwood Avenue in Rosedale and demanded his property while holding an unknown object to his head on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 3:37 a.m. The suspect then fled from the location.

Attempted Robbery in Rosedale-A known suspect assaulted the victim in the 4700 block of Rasped Avenue in Overlea and then searched the victim’s pockets on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m.

Royal Farms Robbery- An armed suspect entered the Royal Farms in the 8800 block of Philadelphia Road in Rossville and demanded the clerk hand over his personal cell phone and all the cash from the register. The suspect was arrested at the scene on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 11:44 p.m.

Kingsville Shed Burglarized –Sometime between Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. and on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. an unknown suspect entered an unlocked detached storage shed in the 11000 b lock of Old Landing Road in Kingsville and removed landscaping equipment.

Week of Sept. 25

Second Degree Burglary- Three unknown suspects cut and pried open the front door of Rosedale Discount Liquors in the 6400 block of Kenwood Avenue. The suspects unsuccessfully attempted to remove the ATM. A safe and two cash drawers were stolen on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 3:37 a.m.

Second Degree Burglary- On Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 1:10 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) cut through two latches on a storage container which is located on the victim’s property in the 1800 block of Woodruff Avenue. The suspect(s) stole three dirt bikes and an ATV from within.

Robbery-Two unknown suspects robbed two victims of their cash and drugs in the 1400 block of Cheaco Avenue in Rosedale and then fled in a vehicle on Monday, Sept. 28 at 4:55 a.m.

Second Degree Burglary-Between midnight on Aug. 27 and 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 27, an unknown suspect broke into a secured storage unit and stole multiple items in the 7800 block of Rossville Boulevard in Fullerton.

First Degree Assault-On Friday, Sept. 25 around 4 p.m., three unknown suspects assaulted the victim with an unknown object in the 8200 block of Perry Hall Boulevard near or at White Marsh Mall Victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

First Degree Burglary- An unknown suspect smashed a window at the victim’s residence to gain entry in the 4200 Block of Silver Spring Road in Perry Hall. Once inside, the suspect took cash from the victim’s wallet and then fled on Friday, Sept. 25 at 12:30 p.m.

Week of Sept. 19

Robbery- Three unknown suspects entered the 7-Eleven in the 6400 block of Golden Ring in Rosedale. The suspects went behind the counter, pulled out both register drawers and then fled on Sept. 21 around 10:36 p.m.


Robbery- A victim was assaulted by several known and unknown suspects in the 6100 block of Radecke Avenue in Overlea. The suspects took the victim’s shoes and belt on Sept. 19 around 7:49 p.m.

First Degree Assault- Police reported that two known persons got into an argument on Sept. 19 around 7:49 p.m. and one was physically assaulted in the unit block of Maya Way in Rosedale.
