Police Make Arrests in Sunday Night Shooting in Carney

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit made two arrests yesterday for a shooting in the unit block of Handworth Way that left one man injured Sunday night.

Police were called to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center Sunday, Jan. 27 after the victim responded there with a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim, 31, advised that he and his girlfriend were involved in an altercation with another couple that led to the male suspect shooting him around 7:30 p.m. The victim, 31, was treated at the hospital and released.

Police have identified the suspects as Qarier Onell Lovelace (29) of the 1200 block of South Marlyn Avenue in Essex and Shakira Mikele Jackson (31) of the unit block of Handworth Way in Carney. Both have been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, and firearms charges and are both held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.
